AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Comprehensive, scenario-based resuscitation training covering advanced airway management, emergency pharmacology, rhythm recognition, and megacode team dynamics.
Complete Your Free Precourse Self-Assessment & Work
The American Heart Association requires all ACLS students (Initial and Renewal) to complete the official ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work before coming to class. This free online module prepares you for rhythm recognition and pharmacology.
- Score 70% or Higher: You may retake the online self-assessment as many times as necessary to pass.
- Bring Your Certificate: Print or screenshot your completion certificate to present to your instructor upon arrival.
- Cost: 100% Free via the official AHA student portal.

Who Needs AHA ACLS Certification?
Designed for emergency healthcare personnel who direct or participate in the resuscitation of cardiac arrest and peri-arrest events.
Critical Care & Acute Clinicians
Emergency Department physicians, hospitalists, intensivists, telemetry clinicians, and acute medical staff.
ICU, PACU, ED & Cath Lab RNs
Registered nurses working in critical care units, step-down telemetry floors, recovery suites, and emergency suites.
Paramedics & Flight Crews
Field paramedics, critical care transport clinicians, flight nurses, and EMS agency field medical teams.
Surgical & Procedural Teams
Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, procedural dentists, and sedation recovery personnel.
ACLS Course Curriculum & Megacode Training
Hands-on clinical scenario mastery focused on team coordination, algorithmic rhythm recognition, and acute interventions.
Cardiac Arrest Algorithms (VF / pVT / Asystole / PEA)
Systematic resuscitation pathways, high-performance CPR cycles, early defibrillation mechanics, and identifying reversible causes (H's & T's).
Symptomatic Bradycardia Management
Differentiating stable vs. unstable bradycardias, first-line atropine administration, transcutaneous pacing setup, and chronotropic infusions.
Tachycardia Dynamics & Synchronized Cardioversion
Narrow vs. wide complex tachycardia algorithms, vagal maneuvers, adenosine administration, and synchronized cardioversion protocols.
Post-Cardiac Arrest Care (ROSC)
Targeted temperature management protocols, hemodynamic optimization, 12-lead ECG evaluation, and post-resuscitation pathway management.
Emergency Pharmacology
Proper indications, dosages, and contraindications for epinephrine, amiodarone, lidocaine, adenosine, atropine, and dopamine/norepinephrine.
High-Performance Megacode Team Dynamics
Clear communication, structured role delegation, avoiding interruptions in compressions, and executing leadership during simulated arrest codes.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ACLS Initial and Renewal?
The Renewal course (~3 hours) is designed for clinicians holding an active or recently lapsed ACLS card who are comfortable with rhythms and resuscitation algorithms. The Initial course (~3-4 hours) is for first-time candidates, providing comprehensive algorithm review, hands-on drug calculation practice, and step-by-step megacode simulations.
When do I receive my official ACLS eCard?
Your official American Heart Association ACLS Provider 2-year certification eCard is issued on the very same day of your class. You can download your PDF credential immediately for employer verification.
Do I have to take BLS separately?
ACLS assumes foundational knowledge of high-quality Basic Life Support. While you do not have to hold a separate BLS card to attend, most hospitals and medical boards require both. You can also add a same-day BLS renewal during your ACLS appointment.
Do I receive Continuing Education (CE) units?
Yes. Physicians, Nurses*, and Paramedics/EMT's in California can receive official CE contact hours upon successful completion of either the Initial or Renewal course. *Nursing CE is through the Pre Coursework.
